The Municipality of Fornos de Algodres has strengthened its selective collection network by installing three new mobile eco-points, distributed across different locations in the municipality, aiming to bring this service closer to the population and promote more sustainable waste management.

These new facilities allow for the collection of new waste streams, contributing to increased citizen participation and improved quantity and quality of selectively collected materials. The initiative also aims to reduce landfill waste, aligning with sustainability and climate transition goals.
The acquisition of the mobile eco-points, awarded to the company Waste To Me for €17,250.00 (plus VAT), received 85% funding from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the CENTRO 2030 program. The national co-financing, covered by the Municipality, amounts to €2,587.50.
This investment is part of the Municipal Development Strategy of Fornos de Algodres, specifically within Axis 3 – More Resilient Municipality, and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11, 12, and 13, related to sustainable cities, responsible consumption and production, and climate action.
The measure implements the Municipality's PERSU 2030 Action Plan, reinforcing the selective collection network for specific waste fractions and promoting a more efficient circular economy.
