On October 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the third edition of the FAT – Feira Agrícola Transfronteiriça (Transborder Agricultural Fair) took place in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. The event focused on valuing agriculture and livestock and promoting the best products from both sides of the border.
The opening session was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Sea, José Manuel Fernandes, along with various personalities and representatives from different sectors of society, who joined this important moment for the municipality and the region.
In his speech, the Mayor, Carlos Condesso, emphasized the FAT's importance in reaffirming the agro-livestock sector and agriculture's role as a pillar of the local and regional economy, as well as in valuing the richness of the cross-border territory and the quality of its produce.
The program included musical performances, thematic workshops, show cooking sessions, agricultural demonstrations, an exhibition of agricultural machinery, and a livestock show, offering visitors the opportunity to learn closely about different practices, equipment, and knowledge related to the rural world.
Iberian traditions and culture were also highlighted, with moments dedicated to bullfighting festivities, alongside traditional food stalls ('tasquinhas') and a showcase of local products.
The organization is already looking forward to welcoming visitors to the fourth edition, planned for next year.
