The President of the Municipal Chamber of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Carlos Condesso, and Vice-President, Alfeu Nascimento, participated in the signing ceremony of the 2026 Border Recognition Records, held yesterday at the Ayuntamiento of Ahigal de los Aceiteros, in Spain.

The act formalized the maintenance of territorial boundaries between Portugal and Spain, in accordance with historical treaties. The signing also included the participation of the Mayors of the Spanish Ayuntamientos of La Bouza, Sobradillo, La Fregeneda, and Ahigal de los Aceiteros.
This annual procedure, of a legal and mandatory nature, aims to ensure the recognition of the common border's alignment. Beyond its formal character, the meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen institutional ties and proximity between the border municipalities.
Cross-border cooperation was reinforced through the sharing of experiences and the definition of joint strategies for the development and enhancement of territories on both sides of the border.
Following the ceremony, the representatives participated in a guided tour of an olive oil mill in Ahigal de los Aceiteros, belonging to a local company dedicated to the harvesting and processing of olives.
