The Sagres Fortress hosted the international event ‘Intergenerational Climate Conversations’, where the Emc2 Project was presented as a way to link cultural heritage and climate action.

On October 5–6, 2026, the Sagres Fortress hosted the international event ‘Intergenerational Climate Conversations’. Organized in collaboration by entities such as ICLEI Europe and Europa Nostra, the gathering brought together heritage experts, policymakers, researchers, young people, and local residents.
The aim was to discuss how the cultural and creative sector can contribute to climate action and sustainable development in the face of climate change. The program included presentations, workshops, and site visits.
During the workshop on the 6th, Alexandra Abreu Lima (MARE and INIAV, I.P.) presented the Emc2 Project, focused on ‘Exploring White Crowberry Coastal Habitats’, followed by a visit to the white crowberry population found at the fortress.
Project Emc2 is funded by national funds from the FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., through projects UID/04292/2025 and UID/PRR/04292/2025 granted to MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, and project LA/P/0069/2020 granted to the Associate Laboratory ARNET - Aquatic Research Network.
