From October 21 to 25, the Festival MED participated in WOMEX - Worldwide Music Expo, a significant international gathering dedicated to world music, held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. This participation is part of the event's internationalization strategy, promoted by the Loulé Municipal Council, strengthening its ties with global music industry players.
WOMEX annually brings together thousands of professionals from dozens of countries, serving as a platform for the promotion and dissemination of world music. The event combines a professional trade fair with showcase concerts, conferences, debates, and networking events.
During the event, the MED management established contacts with agents, producers, and musicians to prepare for the next edition. The 23rd edition of the Festival MED will take place from June 24 to 27, 2027, once again transforming the Historic Zone of Loulé into the epicenter of multiculturalism.
MED Director Paulo Silva sought to deepen relationships with international partners and evaluate artistic proposals. WOMEX featured artistic projects from various nationalities, including Morocco, Mongolia, Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, Colombia, and Mali.
“"We leave here very satisfied with what we saw and heard, as well as with the approaches from potential partners. I believe this participation in WOMEX could result in the hiring of artists with differentiating proposals that will surprise our audience."
News about the lineup for the 23rd edition of Festival MED will be announced soon. More information at festivalmed.cm-loule.pt.
