Cindy, a dog aged 18 years and 5 months, was announced as the winner of the "Oldest Dog in Loulé Municipality" contest, promoted by the Loulé Municipal Council as part of the Loulé Animal Festival.

The announcement ceremony took place this Thursday, October 1st, the date marking Senior Dog Day. Cindy, a resident of the parish of S. Sebastião, stood out for her longevity, being the oldest animal in the municipality.
On the podium, accompanying Cindy, were Popota, aged 16 years and 5 months, also from S. Sebastião, and Buddy, aged 15 years and 4 months, from Quarteira. These animals were recognized for their lifespan.
As a prize, the winner Cindy will receive a photo session with her owner and will be given dog food equivalent to her age. Popota and Buddy will also be rewarded with dog food corresponding to their respective ages.
Senior Dog Day aims to raise awareness among owners about the specific health, comfort, and well-being needs of senior dogs, also encouraging the responsible adoption of older animals found in shelters.
