The Municipality of Lagos has signed two financing agreements for crucial interventions in water management and territorial resilience against climate change.

One of the agreements, signed on September 30 with the Environmental Fund, aims to reduce saline intrusion in the urban wastewater system. This project, with an investment exceeding 340,000 euros, is funded by the FEDER (60%) and the Environmental Fund (40%), representing the national financial counterpart.
A few days earlier, on September 21, a collaboration agreement was signed with the Agency for Climate and the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) for the reconstruction of the access to Praia do Camilo. This iconic bathing area had been closed due to geomorphological instability and erosion aggravated by intense rainfall.
The intervention at Praia do Camilo, estimated at around 150,000 euros and financed by the Environmental Fund, aims to restore stability and safety conditions, mitigating risks and ensuring adequate access to one of the most photographed beaches on the Algarve coast. The agreement enables the municipality to intervene in coastal areas exposed to extreme weather events, in coordination with environmental management and climate adaptation entities.
These initiatives are part of a broader action plan to strengthen the resilience of territories vulnerable to extreme weather events and to restore riparian and coastal areas affected by early-year storms.
