The Cultural Center of Lagos hosted the 15th National Meeting of the Working Group Play in the Educating City, held on November 2nd and 3rd, under the theme «Discovering Play».

The meeting, which brought together municipalities, specialists, and professionals from various fields, focused on the importance of play in child development, addressing the themes «Play at Home» and «Play at School» on the first day.
At the opening session, the Mayor of Lagos Municipality, Hugo Pereira, highlighted the relevance of play in children's development and praised the work of professionals in the field. Thematic panels, debates, and group dynamics explored the role of families, schools, and communities in promoting this right.
The municipal project «(RE)Creio», a Municipal Strategy for the Promotion of Play developed by the Education, Youth, and Sport Division of Lagos, was presented. This initiative recognizes play as essential for child development and for building child-friendly communities.
The second day focused on the panel «Play in Public Space», discussing the need to design these spaces according to children's needs and experiences. The Councilor for Education, Sara Coelho, closed the event, emphasizing that «an Educating City is built in the streets, in places, and in shared experiences», and the importance of viewing the city from a child's perspective.
The meeting provided a space for debate and exchange of experiences on the different contexts of play, reinforcing its integration into the planning and experience of cities.
