The Municipality of Faro, through the Nautical Center of Faro Beach, organized on September 23rd the 2026 Adapted Sports Final Event. The initiative marked the closing of the sports year with the participation of 103 people, including users and technicians from regional institutions.
The event was attended by 66 users and 37 technicians from 10 regional institutions: ASMAL, ASMAL (Loulé), UNIR, ACASO, CMRSul, Associação Algarvia, APATRIS 21, APPC, Young Parkies Portugal, and Existir.
Throughout the morning, participants had the opportunity to try various nautical and water activities, including Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle (SUP), Sailing, and motorboat trips. Motor skills and aquatic adaptation games complemented the activities, providing a moment of social interaction and marking the work developed within the Adapted Sports program.
The event also served to value the training of technicians through courses in Canoeing and SUP, promoted by the Nautical Center of Faro Beach. The aim is to enhance the institutions' autonomy in organizing nautical activities for their users.
The initiative concluded with a shared snack among all attendees. The organization involved several partners, including Algarve Mais (audiovisual coverage), Clube Surf Faro (equipment provision), AECO (motorboat trip), Red Seagull (motor skills games), and Restaurante Elementos (commemorative cake). The Escola Secundária de Pinheiro e Rosa collaborated with volunteer students.
With the end of the 2026 season, the Municipality of Faro is already preparing the next edition of the Adapted Sports program, scheduled to start in April 2027, maintaining its principles of training, free access, and promotion of more equitable sports participation.
