The District of Évora was among those benefiting from this initiative, which targets the fight against rural fires. In addition to Redondo, the municipalities of Alandroal, Arraiolos, Borba, Évora, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Viana do Alentejo, and Vila Viçosa also received similar equipment.
The handover ceremony for the eight tractors took place at the Centro de Desenvolvimento Agropecuário de Évora (Évora Agricultural Development Centre) and was attended by the Secretary of State for Forests, Rui Ladeira, and the Mayor of Redondo, David Galego. The initiative was promoted by the Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests).
The vehicles are intended for clearing roadside verges, undergrowth, and fuel management strips. Seven of the tractors are Massey Ferguson models equipped with a semi-advanced verge cutter, and one is a 4x4 tractor prepared for forestry work.
The total investment amounted to approximately 800,000 euros, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The tractor delivery was part of the Forest Plan 2050 – Greener Future.
