The Évora Municipal Council will receive an articulated forestry tractor, various civil protection materials, and a light fire-fighting vehicle, bolstering municipal resources for fire prevention and combat, particularly in rural areas.

The Vice-President of the Évora Municipal Council, Jerónimo José, announced at the public meeting on October 15, 2026, that these acquisitions are of significant importance for reinforcing municipal means. Work developed through a CIMAC application, in coordination with the Municipality of Évora and other entities, will enable the delivery of various rural fire-fighting equipment and a light vehicle to the Évora Volunteer Firefighters.
Municipal civil protection services will also receive a fire-fighting vehicle and a tent with a trailer, which can be used as a casualty triage post or command post.
The councilor also mentioned procedures for resolving a water management issue on the road between Torre de Coelheiros and S. Manços, preparations for intervention on the road between Portas da Lagoa and Rotunda dos Bombeiros, and the status of road repairs in various other parts of Évora.
The decision to contract and authorize expenditure for the Drainage Network, Supply Network, and WWTP Conversion into Pumping Station in Bairro das Espadas for the new Central Hospital of Alentejo was approved. This intervention aims to integrate flows from Évora's hydrographic basin, directing them to the western emissary of the municipal drainage system and subsequently to the Évora WWTP, ensuring a technically adequate and environmentally sustainable solution.
Furthermore, the President of the Municipal Council, Carlos Zorrinho, highlighted the conclusion of the public consultation period for the Évora Urbanization Plan, which received approximately 150 public contributions. The proposal will be submitted to the Municipal Council on November 12 and to the Municipal Assembly at a later date, with publication in the Diário da República and entry into force expected by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
Preparations for the European Capital of Culture and recent developments in the construction of the new Central Hospital of Alentejo were also discussed.
The Évora Municipal Council also approved a set of congratulatory motions proposed by various political forces: to the Grupo União e Recreio Azarujense (GURA) for its 97th Anniversary; to the Festival Internacional de Arte Jovem, recognizing the work of Professor Teodolinda Pascoal; to the Legado do Caixeiro Alentejano for its 100 years of existence; to Luís Ferro, Professor at the University of Évora, for winning the FORMA 2025 Awards in the Emerging Young Talent category; to Professor Teresa Pinto Correia for receiving the Science & Ecology Excellence Award 2026; and to the Associação Eborae Mvsica for its 39th Anniversary and its work in promoting music, training, and musical education.
