In a public meeting held on October 1st, 2026, the Évora Municipal Council initiated pavement rehabilitation works in the Garraia and Sizuda areas. The project, carried out in cooperation with Infraestruturas de Portugal, represents an investment exceeding half a million euros.
The Municipal Council President, Carlos Zorrinho, provided an update on several important matters for the municipality, including accessibility works for the new Central Hospital of Alentejo, the utilization of PRR funds for the European Capital of Culture 2027, and the monitoring of related activities.
Also highlighted were the ongoing works for the Évora Urbanization Plan, with public discussion until October 12th, the Council's participation in founding the Association for the creation of the Regional Orchestra of Alentejo, the signing of a protocol with the University of Évora for the Aeronautical and Aerospace Hub, and the launch of the Casario Branco program.
Among the resolutions from the Order of the Day were the opening of a Competitive Procedure for the recruitment of 18 Operational Assistants - Cleaning Workers, the approval of a Collaboration Protocol with the Local Health Unit of Alentejo Central for the Mental Health Program, the awarding of the management of the Polidesportivo do Bacelo – Parque das Corunheiras, and the issuance of an opinion for the application for the Sports Utility Status to Clube Raquel Cabaço. The Improvement of the Facilities of the CPCJ of Évora was also approved.
The Évora Municipal Council also approved motions of congratulation for the 45th Anniversary of the Associação Filarmónica 24 de Junho de S. Miguel de Machede, for Professor Doctor Hermínia Vilar on her appointment to the General Council of the National Commissariat for the Commemorations of the 900 Years of the Foundation of Portugal, for the International Day of Older Persons, for Manuel Dias on his 50-year career, for Colonel Hélder Barros on his appointment as Commander of the Territorial Command of Évora of the Guarda Nacional Republicana, for athlete Alexandra Potes Amaral for her achievement at the Sines Triathlon 2026, for the Clube de Bilhar Eborense on its 20th Anniversary, for the Grupo Desportivo e Cultural do Bairro de Santo António on its 51st Anniversary, and for the 56th Anniversary of the CGTP-Intersindical.
A Motion of Condolence was also approved for the passing of Suzete Chaveiro, an employee of the Évora Municipal Council for approximately 40 years, with a minute of silence observed in her memory.
