The municipalities of Pampilhosa da Serra and Tábua were unanimously elected to the national coordination of the Working Group «Brincar na Cidade Educadora». The choice was made during the 15th Working Group Meeting, held in Lagos on November 2nd and 3rd, and represents the trust placed in both municipalities, succeeding Torres Vedras in leadership since 2021.
Alexandra Tomé, Vice-President of the Pampilhosa da Serra Municipal Council, highlighted the opportunity to reinforce the municipality's commitment to building an Educating City, where play is central to children's development, learning, and well-being. "We believe that investing in play is investing in happier, more autonomous, and participatory children and, consequently, in territories with more future", she stated.
This new responsibility aims to continue the work developed, promoting cooperation between municipalities, the sharing of good practices, and the implementation of initiatives that recognize play as a fundamental right of children.
The Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra has been a member of the International Association of Educating Cities (AICE) since 2020, through the Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities, reinforcing its commitment to an education that transcends formal learning spaces and involves the entire community.
