The collaboration, part of the Prato Sustentável program, primarily aims to improve the offering of plant-based meals in UPCoimbra's canteens. The joint effort includes reviewing and optimizing technical sheets to ensure nutritional balance, quality, and acceptance of the gastronomic proposals.
The agreement also provides technical support for integrating sustainability criteria into public food procurement procedures, training for kitchen staff, and awareness initiatives for students. Through this partnership, SAS UPCoimbra reinforces its commitment to promoting conscious food choices and reducing the environmental impact of food consumption.
ProVeg Portugal, representing a non-profit international organization, works to transform the global food system by promoting the reduction of animal product consumption and the adoption of plant-based diets. In Portugal, the Prato Sustentável program seeks to increase and improve the availability of plant-based meals in schools, universities, and collective canteens, encouraging the consumption of legumes and vegetables as sources of plant protein.
