The celebrations begin on October 4th, at 6:00 PM, at the Casa da Cultura César Oliveira, with the "Rock Coral" show, which brings together three choirs and a live band to perform iconic songs by bands like Queen, Beatles, ABBA, and Xutos & Pontapés. Artistic direction is by Márcio Silva, Artur Pinho Maria, and Rita Lourenço, with arrangements by Peter Willem Schön.
The central day of the commemorations, October 7th, starts at 9:30 AM with a street parade by the Filarmónica Comunitária, composed of members from the Avoense, Fidelidade, and Sangianense Philharmonic bands, and the Escolinha dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Oliveira do Hospital. This will be followed at 10:00 AM at the Town Hall by a reception for guests, flag raising, and the playing of the National Anthem.
At 10:30 AM, at the Casa da Cultura César Oliveira, the ESTGOH tunas – Estotuna D’Espital and Estunina – will welcome guests, before the Solemn Commemorative Session of the Municipal Holiday at 10:45 AM. During this session, citizens, companies, and entities will be recognized for their merit and contribution to local development, and Diplomas of Recognition/Educational Promotion and awards from the business idea contest – Empreender+ will be presented.
The afternoon and evening of October 7th include the inauguration of the painting exhibition "ArtGIRA" by Gil Ramos at 5:00 PM at the Casa da Cultura César Oliveira. At 7:00 PM, protocols will be signed with cultural groups, and the day will conclude with the Alma de Coimbra Concert at 9:00 PM, with free admission.
The commemorations extend throughout October with various initiatives. On October 9th, in Meruge, the Inclusive Interpretive Walk will take place as part of the Estrela UNESCO Global Geopark and Geodiversity Week. On the 10th, the Municipal Market hosts the Mercado da Nossa Terra, dedicated to chestnuts.
On October 11th, in Meruge, the initiative "Encruzilhadas – 1.ª Mostra Intercultural" will be held. Between October 14th and 17th, the Casa da Cultura César Oliveira will host the Literary Encounter "OH Palavras". Comedian Dário Guerreiro will present the stand-up comedy show "Promogénito" on October 23rd.
The celebrations will conclude on October 25th, in Vale de Maceira, with the Colcurinho Epic Trail, Mini Colcurinho Epic Trail, and a Walk, focusing on sports and nature near the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Preces.
The program aims to celebrate the identity and history of Oliveira do Hospital, recognize the community, and promote the encounter between culture, territory, and civic participation throughout October.
