The Metropolitan Region of Coimbra participated in the 6th edition of the EVOLVE – Digital Transformation Summit, promoted by the APDC in Porto. The project “Intelligent Coimbra Region” was presented, a technological solution developed in partnership with Kyndryl, aiming to transform territorial management and enhance the decision-making capacity of municipalities through integrated data use.
Under the theme “One territory, one integrated vision,” the participation of the Metropolitan Region of Coimbra emphasized the potential of digital transformation in modernizing public administration and building smarter, more sustainable territories prepared for future challenges. The event gathered experts, companies, and public entities at the Auditório Francisco de Assis in Porto to share experiences and innovative solutions.
The project presentation was led by Sérgio Cruz, Information Systems and Technologies Specialist for the Metropolitan Region of Coimbra, and Nuno Silva Correia, Network & Edge Practice Lead at Kyndryl, who outlined the strategic vision, technological architecture, and platform potential.
The “Intelligent Coimbra Region” project is based on a platform for integrating and analyzing information from ten strategic areas. It aims to provide municipal officials and services with data to anticipate needs, identify trends, optimize resources, and inform public policies. The integrated, data-driven approach seeks to overcome information fragmentation, promoting greater articulation between intervention areas and strengthening the response capacity of the 19 municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Coimbra.
Participation in EVOLVE 2026 served to give national visibility to the work of the Metropolitan Region of Coimbra in digital transformation, demonstrating the importance of inter-municipal cooperation. By focusing on information integration and intelligent data use, the region aims to enhance the planning and management of its municipalities, fostering more efficient and citizen-oriented public administration.
