The signing of the protocol and the establishment of the consortium took place during the Solemn Session commemorating the Day of the Faculty of Medicine. These commitments aim to strengthen the link between care activities, teaching, and research, fundamental areas of the IPO of Coimbra's mission.
The cooperation protocol sets conditions for the development of joint projects and technical-scientific collaboration actions, including training initiatives, information sharing, and logistical and human resources support, contributing to the enhancement of professionals' skills.
The Care4C Consortium aims to integrate the clinical experience of the IPO of Coimbra with the academic and scientific capacity of the University of Coimbra, promoting research and innovation in oncology. Its objectives include the development of joint clinical and translational research projects, strengthening national and international cooperation, applying artificial intelligence and data science to oncology, and advanced training for doctors and researchers.
The establishment of this consortium aligns with the European Cancer Plan and the path towards recognition as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. For the IPO of Coimbra, these partnerships represent a deepening of institutional collaboration with an expected impact on training, knowledge production, and the continuous improvement of patient care.
