The initiative aims to promote contemporary literary creation in Portuguese. This edition focuses on the unpublished novel modality, supporting the emergence and recognition of new authors in the national literary scene.
Candidacies are open until December 31, 2026. The winning work will receive a monetary prize of 3,000 euros.
The jury for the 9th Edition includes Professor Doctor Carlos Fiolhais, a scientist and science communicator; Dr. Sara Ludovico, Director of Book Services at the DGLAB; and Dr. Teresa Carvalho, representing the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA). The diverse professional backgrounds and recognized experience of the jury members ensure technical competence, independence, and rigor in evaluating the submitted works.
Through this initiative, the Municipality of Figueira da Foz reaffirms its commitment to promoting books, reading, and literary activity, contributing to the valorization of Portuguese culture and the preservation of João Gaspar Simões's memory.
