Through the National Plan for the Arts (PNA), the government aims to identify municipal initiatives distinguished by their continuity and integration into local cultural policies. The goal is to create a shareable resource to support municipalities and sector professionals in strategy formulation.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, emphasized the importance of Culture as a factor for territorial cohesion. "We are valuing the cultural action of municipalities, which can and should inspire other territories," she stated, highlighting the encouragement for cultural creation, programming, and enjoyment by the populations.
In evaluating proposals, the PNA will consider territorial impact, community participation, coordination with other areas of public life, and adaptability to different contexts. Territorial and cultural diversity, as well as different scales of intervention, will also be taken into account for a comprehensive overview.
Interested municipalities and entities can submit their proposals via the participa.gov.pt portal. Selected initiatives will be presented at the VI Culture Forum, taking place on December 14th and 15th in Figueira da Foz, under the theme "Culture and Local Power".
