The Division of Social Affairs and Health and the Division of Education of the Municipality of Figueira da Foz organized the activity “Olhó Peixe Fresquinho!” at the Eng.º Silva Municipal Market. The initiative included participation from primary school students of the Bom Sucesso Basic School, within the scope of Food Week.
Integrated into the Figueira Cidade Saudável (Healthy Figueira City) program, the event was developed in partnership with the MAREFOZ Laboratory of the University of Coimbra and with the collaboration of DOCAPESCA - Portos e Lotas, S.A. The goal was to provide children with an educational experience about marine biodiversity, sustainable fishing, and responsible fish consumption.
The students also attended the puppet show “Lulu e Zezé Vão à Pesca” (Lulu and Zezé Go Fishing), led by the Municipality's nutritionists, which playfully reinforced the importance of healthy eating habits.
The next session is scheduled for October 15th, at 9:30 AM, with participation from the Basic Schools of Viso, Costa de Lavos, and Sobral. Furthermore, the project will be presented as a best practice on October 16th, during the 1st Conference of the Nutrition Service of the Local Health Unit of Baixo Mondego.
