October, marking the International Day of Older Persons (October 1st) and the International Day of the Third Age (October 28th), will be celebrated in Arganil with the "Hair with History" festival. The initiative, organized by the Municipality of Arganil in partnership with the CLDS 5G Ger’Ações Project and supported by the Municipality of Ílhavo and Rádio Clube de Arganil, aims to value longevity and combat social isolation through cultural, social, and well-being activities.
The festival, aimed at individuals over 55, kicks off on October 26th with a Biodanza class in the morning and a Cyanotype on Fabric Workshop in the afternoon. On October 27th, there will be a workshop on grief and the play "Tal como foi o silêncio".
The program for October 28th includes the talk "Ainda há muito para viver – Caminhos para envelhecer com sentido" (There's Still Much to Live For – Paths to Aging with Meaning), featuring Bruno Soares, a gerontologist from the Municipality of Ílhavo, followed by an open painting class with Paulo Santos, Professor at the Arganil Senior Academy, and a night walk "Caminhar em família" (Walking as a Family).
October 29th will focus on personal care and self-esteem with the initiative "Espelho meu, espelho meu" (Mirror, Mirror on the Wall), which includes hairdressing, makeup, and photography. The festival concludes on October 30th with a water aerobics class at the Municipal Pool and the show "Amália, Fado e Saudade", a tribute to Amália Rodrigues.
