Five new student representatives have been elected to the General Council of the University of Beira Interior (CG-UBI), in an electoral process held on November 4th.

The University of Beira Interior (UBI) has selected five new members who will form part of the General Council (CG-UBI), the institution's highest governing body. The election, held on November 4th and involving only student representatives, resulted in the selection of five individuals. From List A, Miguel Oliveira Simões Santos, Lana Bitencourt Bugarin, Guilherme Cid Ferreira Fernandes Torgal, and Eva Martina Saraiva Santos were elected. Bruna Abreu Vilarinho was elected from List B.
The newly elected student council members are expected to take office later this year, at a date to be determined during one of the upcoming CG-UBI meetings. These representatives serve two-year terms, which in this specific case will be valid until 2028.
The UBI General Council comprises 29 members and its primary role is to analyze strategic issues for the university, including the election of the Rector. Its composition includes 21 representatives from the three academic community groups: Professors and Researchers, Students, and Technical, Specialist, and Management Staff. Additionally, there are eight co-opted external personalities invited for their prominent standing in society.
