The decision, made during an ordinary meeting on January 29, 2026, aims to ensure that all candidates meeting the regulatory requirements can benefit from this municipal support. Initially, 40 study grants were approved, each with a maximum value of 1,000 euros, tiered according to family allowance brackets.
Following the analysis of applications, it was found that 46 met all legally and regulatorily required eligibility criteria, leading to the approval of all. This reinforces the municipality's commitment to equal opportunities in accessing higher education and the democratization of learning, aiming to support the continuation of academic paths for the region's youth.
The support aligns with the municipal policy of promoting equal opportunities and democratizing education, in line with the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic. Additionally, four merit scholarships will be awarded to recognize the academic achievements of students who excel in their studies.
In total, the municipal investment amounts to approximately 36 thousand euros, representing a concrete reinforcement of the policy to support the education and training of Vinhais's young people. The Municipality views this investment as a commitment to the future of the region, seeking to enable students to pursue higher education and develop their qualifications, regardless of their economic status.
The awarding of these scholarships is part of a municipal strategy that prioritizes Education, valuing merit, promoting equal opportunities, and supporting families in the effort associated with attending higher education.
