The distinction was accepted by the Mayor of Vila Verde, Júlia Rodrigues Fernandes, at a ceremony held at the Casa da Música in Porto, attended by the Secretary of State for Youth and Equality, Carla Rodrigues.
“This is another distinction that recognizes the work we do every day in the Municipality of Vila Verde, always in service of the people. We invest and always seek the best solutions swiftly, efficiently, and humanistically, to ensure the best quality of life for people, who are the focus and center of our political mission,” stated Júlia Rodrigues Fernandes.
The "Living in Equality" Award is a biennial initiative by the CIG, part of the National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination (ENIND) — Portugal + Igual. Its aim is to distinguish municipalities with good practices in integrating a gender perspective into their governance and territory.
This eighth edition saw the highest number of applications since its inception in 2012, reflecting the commitment of municipalities to equality and its growing importance in public policies.
