The event focused on the production of nature photography books, exploring the editorial process with the participation of designers and photographers. Throughout the festival, six speakers shared their perspectives on nature and its representation through images.
Art was present in the exhibition “Simbiose” by Paulo Rocha, which combines nature photography with watercolor painting. Participants also enjoyed two photographic tours led by nature photography specialists in scenic locations.
At Praceta Honório de Lima, the exhibition “Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês: um território, seis perspetivas” was inaugurated, featuring works by six photographers in backlit cubes, highlighting the ecosystems of Portugal's only National Park.
The festival concluded with the awards ceremony for the IRIS Photography Contest, honoring Tiago Duarte (Natural Landscape), Hugo Amador (Wildlife), and Ângelo Jesus (National Park).
During the opening session, the councilor of the Câmara Municipal de Terras de Bouro, António Cunha, emphasized the importance of the IRIS Festival for promoting the territory, environmental preservation, and valuing photography. He also highlighted its role in diversifying tourism and combating seasonality.
