This decision reflects a political choice to value the associative movement and sports practice as essential tools for promoting healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and the development of the municipality.
Development contracts will be signed with 18 institutions representing various sports and ensuring the continuity of training. These include the Associação Cultural, Desportiva e Recreativa de Frades, the Associação de Basquetebol de Braga, and the Associação de Futebol de Braga. It is estimated that over a thousand athletes will benefit from this support.
The Municipality views Sport as a central pillar for preventive health and community cohesion. In addition to direct financial support, free use of sports facilities is provided, pitch maintenance is ensured, and improvements and repairs are carried out.
The investment aims to ensure the continuity of training and sports practice, combat sedentary lifestyles and screen time, and offer healthy occupation alternatives, instilling values such as citizenship, teamwork, and discipline. Municipal support also eases family budgets associated with young people's sports activities.
