The Directorate-General for Maritime Policy (DGPM) attended the launch of the 2nd phase of the Blue Decarbonization Task Force, promoted by the United Nations Global Compact Network Portugal at ERSE, on October 15th.

After identifying the main challenges to the decarbonization of the national maritime sector in its first phase, this new stage focuses on implementing solutions. The work is organized into thematic axes, with the participation of companies, public entities, academia, and other stakeholders.
The Director-General of DGPM, Eng.ª Marisa Lameiras da Silva, emphasized that blue decarbonization is a key instrument of the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030. She highlighted five strategic dimensions to accelerate this transition: a new maritime energy value chain, modernization of port infrastructure, innovation and digitalization, adequate financing, and strengthening collaborative governance.
The focus now is on implementation through thematic axes and the mobilization of all Blue Economy actors, towards a more sustainable, resilient, and competitive maritime sector, and an Ocean with a future.
