The "Mercado Vivo" program aims to boost the Guimarães Municipal Market through a series of cultural and recreational proposals running until December 31st. The goal is to bring Guimarães residents closer to the market, positioning it as a space for meeting, socializing, and participation.
At the initiative's opening, the Councillor of the Guimarães Municipal Council, Alberto Martins, expressed the wish that "the Guimarães Market will once again have life and people. A market without people and without merchants does not exist." The councillor invited "all Guimarães residents to the market", reinforcing the desire to bring "more life, more culture, and more animation" to the venue.
Over the next two months, the program will feature various initiatives, especially on weekends, targeting audiences of all ages. The councillor highlighted the cultural and recreational quality of the planned activities and the opportunity to showcase the best of what the municipality has to offer, stating, "We want this market to be buzzing with initiatives, buzzing with people."
During the first weekend, the program already included a performance by the Grupo Folclórico da Corredoura, a series of talks titled “Histórias do Mercado” (Market Stories), led by Daniela Cardoso, and an activity for younger audiences, “Halloween Kids”.
"Mercado Vivo" continues until December 31st, with a diverse program promising to liven up the Municipal Market throughout the upcoming weekends.
