The October Concerts initiative in Guimarães aims to extend the celebration of World Music Day throughout the month. The program brings together proposals that explore different repertoires, languages, and generations, continuing the Municipality's work in valuing music and its performers.
The 2026 edition will feature the participation of the Orquestra de Guimarães, the Orquestra do Norte, and the TetrAcord’Ensemble, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The Música no Feminino cycle and the Sonus Art Fest and Mucho Flow festivals are also part of the program, highlighting the city's contemporary vitality.
The program will be presented in various venues, including Guimarães's main performance hall and heritage sites, inviting the public to experience music in diverse and accessible contexts.
The Música no Feminino cycle will feature commented concerts with Elisa Bastos (soprano) and Tiago Mileu (piano) on October 3rd, at the Igreja do Carmo; Jill Lawson (piano) on October 17th, at the Igreja de Creixomil; and Catarina Perdigão (voice), Artur Gil Godinho (classical guitar), and Eduardo Seabra (clarinet) on October 31st, at the Paço dos Duques de Bragança.
The Orquestra de Guimarães will perform on October 10th at the Centro Cultural Vila Flor. The TetrAcord’Ensemble will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with the Orquestra do Norte on October 23rd and 24th, at the Igreja de S. Francisco.
In parallel, the Sonus Art Fest will take place on October 9th and 10th at the Hall das Salas de Ensaio do Teatro Jordão e Jardins da Fraterna, with more information available at facebook.com/sonusartfest. The Mucho Flow festival will be held from October 29th to 31st, with details at muchoflow.net.
The organization is the responsibility of the Município de Guimarães, with support from A Oficina – Centro de Artes e Mesteres Tradicionais de Guimarães, CIPRL Lar de Sta. Estefânia, Paço dos Duques de Bragança, and Venerável Ordem Terceira de São Francisco.
