The Municipality of Braga and BragaHabit are launching the 4th edition of the Municipal Program to Combat Energy Poverty, with a budget of 500 thousand euros, to support families in improving the efficiency and comfort of their homes.

The initiative, in partnership with the Braga Business Association, offers non-reimbursable grants of up to 2,500 euros per application. The funding is intended for practical interventions such as replacing windows and doors with better thermal insulation, cladding walls and ceilings, or installing efficient heating systems and solar panels.
“We know that home comfort and energy costs have a direct impact on the well-being and budget of many families in Braga. This financial support is a concrete response to help make homes more efficient and comfortable throughout the year. We want to ensure that energy efficiency and housing comfort effectively reach those who need it most,” stated Pedro Nascimento, Executive Administrator of BragaHabit.
The support is aimed at residents in the municipality of Braga, whether owners or tenants, who benefit from the Social Tariff for Electricity or Natural Gas.
Applications are open between November 1 and December 31, 2026, through the BragaHabit Digital Counter.
In previous editions, the program supported 488 Braga families, with a cumulative investment exceeding 1.2 million euros.
