The work, part of the Esposende Museological Heritage Collection of Short Stories and authored by Hugo Direito Dias and Adriana Moreira, aims to value the cultural heritage associated with the sargaceira tradition, bringing younger generations closer to the memories and knowledge that mark the municipality's identity.
Resulting from a community participation process with illustration workshops held between May 2 and July 11, 2026, the publication involved members of the Sargaceiros Group of the Casa do Povo de Apúlia, promoting sharing between the community and local heritage.
Considered an instrument for safeguarding and transmitting Intangible Cultural Heritage, the story reinforces the role of museums as spaces for intergenerational encounters.
The Councillor for Culture, Paula Cepa, reaffirmed the Municipality's commitment to heritage preservation, highlighting the importance of passing on local knowledge and traditions to future generations as an expression of collective identity.
The renovation work on the Municipal Museum of Esposende, currently closed, was also mentioned. The project includes roof replacement, insulation reinforcement, new window frames, and resolution of infiltration issues, aiming to improve the collection's conservation and conditions for cultural activities.
This intervention represents an eligible investment of 1.2 million euros, with 70% funding from the FEDER, through the Norte 2030 program.
