Voter registration must be completed by October 18th via the email ropjcbt@mun-celorico de basto.pt. Online voting will take place from October 20th to 25th. In-person voting has been included in the Urban Centers of Gandarela de Basto, Fermil de Basto, Mota, and Celorico de Basto on October 31st.
Out of the nine proposals submitted, five were admitted for voting by the Technical Analysis Committee. With a total budget of 20,000 euros, the proposals reflect the diverse interests of the municipality's youth.
The five proposals proceeding to the vote are: Mix of Education and Culture; Celorico Roots and Flavors; Group Proposal in the area of Culture; Group Proposal in the area of Culture – Vila de Gandarela Zone; and BECA 360 – Youth Center for Sports Development.
The proposals are being uploaded to the OPJ microsite at https://opj.celoricodebasto.pt/, where young people can learn more about each project before casting their vote. The main objective of the OPJ is to promote the integration and active participation of youth in public decision-making.
“This edition was truly participatory and demonstrates the interest of our young people in decision-making, with proposals that directly benefit other young people and contribute to the progress of the municipality,” assures the youth councilor, José Sousa. He adds that “our young people are the protagonists and commit to presenting ideas/proposals they wish to see consolidated. Ideas that ensure a more inclusive and sustainable municipality, with benefits for our youth”.
During the voting phase, young people aged 15 to 35 are invited to vote for their preferred proposal. The winning proposal will be announced in November. In the first edition, the winning project was the installation of photovoltaic panels at the Celorico de Basto Basic and Secondary School, and in the second, the creation of the Youth Festival.
