The Municipality of Braga promoted the Sustainable Food Week from October 12 to 17, which saw over 430 participants in activities dedicated to healthy eating and sustainability.
The program included cooking workshops, awareness and training sessions, involving various audiences and spaces such as the Municipal Market, the University of Minho, schools, and the Pedagogical Farm. The initiatives aimed to encourage healthier and more sustainable food choices in daily life.

"Eating better must be a possibility within everyone's reach. The Municipality has a role to play in providing useful information and creating opportunities to learn and experiment. It is this close work that we are developing with the school public and the community in general."
Among the activities, a session on the potential of acorns in human nutrition stood out, with over 100 participants, and "Healthy Snacks" sessions, aimed at employees of the Municipality and AGERE, which registered about 180 participants. The "Workshop of Flavors", held in partnership with the AEBraga Restoration Academy, gathered 66 participants.
The educational component included food literacy training for 30 teachers and sessions dedicated to food at school age. This commitment will continue through sessions requested by schools, which cover 3115 students.
“
"We want to help young people better understand their food choices and take that learning home. Investing in food education is also investing in the health and future of Braga."
The program extends until October 31, with the "Eat Well - Healthy Foods to Taste with Pleasure" itinerary, developed in partnership with the Braga Business Association.
