Odemira reúne entidades para reforçar gestão da água da albufeira de Santa Clara

Câmara Municipal de Odemira

The Municipality of Odemira held a working meeting with the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), the Mira Beneficiaries Association (AB Mira), the Sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Alentejo Litoral, and the Volunteer Firefighters of Odemira, on October 19th, to assess the conditions of the Santa Clara reservoir and define water management measures.

The meeting, held at the Paços do Concelho, aimed to enhance population safety considering the current storage volume and the approaching wet period. Lines of work and coordination were identified among the entities to improve forecasting, prevention, and management of the dam's storage levels, thereby minimizing risks during extreme precipitation events.
Although the direct management of the Santa Clara reservoir does not fall under the Municipality's responsibility, this initiative reflects Odemira's commitment to prevention and the protection of its citizens, promoting coordination among competent authorities to ensure a timely and safe response to potential extreme rainfall episodes.
