The Municipality of Odemira was honored with five distinctions at the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award, an event held as part of the IV Social City Congress. The awarded projects were “Brisas do Atlântico”, “Pegadas no Mira”, “Viver + Viver Melhor”, “Odemira Criativa”, and “Roteiro Odete”.
The Municipal Excellence Award aims to recognize local strategies that demonstrate vision, execution capacity, and commitment to the population, encouraging the sharing of best practices among municipalities.
The municipal projects “Brisas do Atlântico” (Sports), “Odemira Criativa” (Culture), “Roteiro Odete” (Education), and “Pegadas no Mira” (Health) achieved the Gold level, acknowledging their quality and positive impact on the community. Additionally, the sports project “Viver + Viver Melhor” received the Diamond level, highlighting continuous commitment to innovation and improving quality of life.
The award ceremony took place on October 1st and 2nd, in Lagoa and Portimão, during the congress that brought together mayors, directors, and specialists.
Established in 2024 by the Plataforma Cidade Social, the Municipal Excellence Award recognizes and publicizes the best practices of Portuguese municipalities. In 2026, the initiative reinforces the valorization of local public policies and the promotion of a culture of excellence in municipal administration, covering areas such as Sports, Social Action, Culture, Tourism, Education, Youth, Health, and Civil Protection.
