The EB1/JI school in Nossa Senhora das Neves, Beja, was honored with a regional biodiversity mural following its first-place victory in the 'Liga do Ambiente – Freguesias Rurais'.

The EB1/JI School of Nossa Senhora das Neves received a unique award: a mural dedicated to the region's biodiversity and fauna, after securing 1st place in the 3rd edition of the 'Liga do Ambiente – Freguesias Rurais'. This initiative was promoted by EMAS of Beja.
The project, developed during the 2025/2026 academic year, involved approximately 350 students from schools in the rural parishes of the municipality of Beja. Through educational activities and challenges focused on sustainability and environmental preservation, the students demonstrated their commitment to the environment.
As recognition for the students' exemplary performance, the school's walls have been revitalized with an artistic work. The mural was guided by muralist Tiago Hacke, with the active participation of the children in its creation.

A victory for our young environmentalists that will forever adorn our school walls!

The Parish Council (Junta de Freguesia) congratulated the students, teachers, and the entire educational community for this significant achievement. The Council also thanked artist Tiago Hacke for realizing this initiative.
