The new version of the Municipal Regulation for the Granting of Study Scholarships, published in the Diário da República on October 9th, 2026, aims to clarify selection criteria and access conditions, adapting the system to identified needs and reinforcing the suitability of support for candidates' economic and academic situations. The document replaces the previous regulation and transitional rules that were in effect since September 2024.
The updated regulation covers students residing in the municipality who are pursuing bachelor's degrees, integrated master's degrees, master's degrees, and professional higher technical courses. Key changes include the weighting of household income and academic performance in selection criteria, as well as the establishment of common access conditions. It also provides specific rules for students of professional higher technical courses in Almodôvar, with the possibility of a scholarship reduction of up to 50% if tuition fees are not covered by funding.
Eligible applicants are students residing in the municipality for over a year, with proven academic achievement and economic hardship, attending the covered courses. Application for the scholarship awarded by the Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior is also required. The monthly contribution can reach one-third of the national minimum wage, determined individually and awarded for a maximum of 10 months per academic year.
Applications must be submitted within the period announced by the Municipality, either through the Online Services Platform or in person at the Balcão Único, using the specific form and submitting required supporting documents. Deadlines and procedures will be published via official notice and on the Municipality's website.
