The Mayor of Vagos, Rui Cruz, signed the protocol that will allow the Municipality to have this equipment for fuel management and rural fire prevention operations within the municipality. The incorporation of this tractor into the municipal fleet represents an effective increase in intervention capacity with its own resources.
The vehicle will be used for the creation and maintenance of fuel management strips, the cleaning and improvement of the forest road network, and to support the actions of the Municipal Civil Protection Service. This will enable more autonomous planning of work and a faster response to identified needs on the ground.
In a territory where forests and coastal dune areas hold particular environmental, economic, and landscape significance, active fuel management is one of the most effective prevention tools, helping to reduce fire risk and safeguard people, property, and natural heritage.
The Municipality of Vagos highlights the importance of this partnership with the ICNF and the Secretary of State for Forests, which strengthens the coordination between the Central Administration and local authorities in forest defense and building a more resilient territory.
