The National Road 224-2 (EN224-2) in Estarreja will reopen to traffic on November 9th, following the completion of construction work on a new roundabout.

The section between the access roundabout to Pardilhó and the roundabout of the Eco Parque Empresarial will be passable again. The road, which connects the EN109 to the parish of Pardilhó, had been closed since July due to the construction of the new road infrastructure.
The intervention will enable the connection to Rua do Carvalhal, aiming to improve access and circulation conditions in an area with increasing heavy vehicle traffic, driven by the installation of new companies.
The Municipality of Estarreja expects the new accesses to reduce heavy vehicle traffic on the narrower roads of Pardilhó, enhance road safety, and create better conditions for business activity and residents' quality of life.
The project is part of a global investment of 1.73 million euros (+ VAT), which includes the construction of the roundabout (946,754.41€) and the execution of the new road link from Rua do Carvalhal to the EN224 junction (786,795.35€).
The roundabout construction was carried out under a management agreement between the Municipality of Estarreja and Infraestruturas de Portugal, and is considered a relevant intervention for the economic development and attractiveness of the municipality.
