With free admission, the concert is part of a festival that promotes the encounter between music and historical heritage across 11 municipalities in the North of Portugal. The initiative highlights the Monastery of Santa Maria as a space for valuing heritage through music.
Margarida Belém, president of the Arouca Municipal Council, stated that it is with particular significance that they welcome Juan de Rubia, titular organist of the Sagrada Familia, to give voice to the monastery's historic organ, nearly three centuries old and preserved in its original sonority. "Music is one of the noblest ways to showcase who we are and what distinguishes us," she added.
Filipe Veríssimo, artistic director of FIOMS, emphasized the goal of creating moments of encounter through music, with artistic proposals that spark the interest of new audiences and provide memorable cultural experiences.
The 6th edition of FIOMS runs from October 17, 2026, to February 7, 2027, featuring around 50 concerts, two conferences, a masterclass, and the National Congress Pueri Cantores 2026, reaffirming organ and sacred music in historically and culturally significant spaces.
