The Nordeste Council inaugurated the exhibition "Acorianidades" by illustrator Sara Azad at the Casa João de Melo, in Achadinha, which will be open to the public until October 30th.

The exhibition, part of the Ponta Delgada Portuguese Capital of Culture 2026 program, portrays habits and ways of being from São Miguel with an interventionist and humorous approach. The works are described as "daily records, street conversations, situations we witness, answers that remain in memory and make us reflect on our Azorean identity, characteristics so peculiar to being an islander, even without realizing it," according to the exhibition's handout.
The reception was attended by various entities, friends, family of the artist, and young people from the parish of Achadinha. During the event, it was revealed that Sara Azad has family roots in Nordeste, connecting her to the parish of Salga and to the poet and journalist Manuel Inácio de Melo.
The exhibition also includes a painting by visual artist Paula Mota, conceived specifically for this work by Sara Azad, reinforcing the exhibition's purpose.
Sara Azad, born on the island of São Miguel in 1990, dedicates her work to episodes from São Miguel, creatively documenting the island's daily reality through a blend of critique and humor.
