Researchers from the Institute of Marine Sciences Research – OKEANOS and the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of the Azores (FCT-UAc) have developed a method to detect underwater volcanoes from space, using high-resolution satellite imagery.

The article, published in the November 1st edition of UAciência, is authored by Joana R. Domingues, Susanna Ebmeier, Issah N. Suleiman, and Ana M. Martins. The work addresses the application of space technology for monitoring submarine geological phenomena.
UAciência is a bi-weekly publication that is part of the magazine Açores Magazine, from the newspaper Açoriano Oriental. Editorial coordination is led by Armindo Rodrigues, a Full Professor at FCT-UAc.
