The Hospital da Horta celebrated Hospital Day on September 30th, concluding the institution's 50-year commemorations with a solemn session. The President of the Board of Directors, Dr.ª Teresa Faria Ribeiro Cândido, reviewed the past year, highlighting the completion of the Block A works and the installation of the Magnetic Resonance as significant achievements for improving the institution's conditions and response capacity.
The official emphasized the fundamental role of the Hospital da Horta's professionals, recognizing their commitment and dedication. Future challenges include advancing the air conditioning of Block A and planned interventions in the kitchen and laundry, continuing the process of improving hospital infrastructure.
The session also honored staff members completing 30 years of service: Maria Arlete Silveira Neves, Maria Fátima Silva Geraldes, Nélia Carreiro Oliveira, and Simone Silva Martins. Former members of the institution's management bodies were also recognized, including Eduardo Rafael, Dr.ª Fátima Bairos, Nurse Cristina Abrantes (Nursing Director 2021-2026), and Dr. Joana Decq Mota (Clinical Director 2022-2026).
A commemorative stamp and postcard for the 50th anniversary were launched, featuring the current hospital building to symbolize the institution's evolution. The ceremony concluded with a musical performance by in-house talents: Nurse Bruna Costa Gomes and Nurse Sérgio Faria, accompanied by Engineer Paulo Bettencourt, performed songs such as 'Boi do Mar'.
