The agreement, signed at the Viseu Municipal Pools, ensures the collaboration of coaches, technical coordination, and the provision of lifeguards, guaranteeing the quality and safety of activities. The sports season, which began on September 1st, already has over 1800 users, a number expected to increase with the sub-projects «Viseu a Nadar» (Viseu to Swim) and «Natação para Todos» (Swimming for All).
The Federation's President highlighted the priority given to swimming instruction and the importance of understanding Portugal's existing swimming infrastructure to enhance learning and water safety. The Viseu Municipal Swimming School, which in the previous season offered 247 weekly hours and served 2406 users, integrates these three components.
The Mayor, João Azevedo, discussed ongoing investments in the Municipal Pools and revealed plans for a new facility to meet the high demand and waiting lists. "We have thought and reflected a lot about how we could do it in the city and municipality, and we are heading towards a path for which we will certainly have answers in the coming weeks,” the mayor stated, referring to a significant municipal investment for the swimming sector.
With this contract and the municipal projects, Viseu continues its strategy of promoting active and healthy lifestyles, seeking to meet the growing demand with a diverse, qualified, safe, and accessible sports offering.
