The Multipurpose Room of the Chaves Municipal Library is hosting, throughout October, the exhibition "Cores". The show is dedicated to Euclides A. Tavares, a self-taught artist with Luso-Cape Verdean roots, who began his painting journey about two decades ago. His work is recognized for its color, energy, and diversity of experiences, reflecting his perspective on nature, human behavior, and the surrounding world.
During the opening session, held on October 2nd, the artist expressed his satisfaction at presenting his work in Chaves, sharing with the public a part of his journey and his way of feeling and interpreting the world through painting.
The President of the Municipal Chamber, Nuno Vaz, highlighted the importance of the "Os Nossos Artistas" (Our Artists) cycle as a space for valuing and promoting artistic creation, emphasizing the strong tradition of creativity and cultural expression that characterizes the municipality. Regarding the exhibition, he noted its strength, color, energy, and depth, considering that the artist's life journey and experiences are expressed in his canvases.
In a gesture of recognition and connection to the city where he spends a significant part of the year, Euclides A. Tavares donated one of his canvases to the Municipality of Chaves. The artwork was presented to the President of the Municipal Chamber, who thanked the artist, underscoring its significance in contributing to the enhancement and enrichment of the municipal artistic heritage.
The "Os Nossos Artistas" cycle thus continues its purpose of giving visibility to creators and different artistic expressions, bringing the community closer to cultural production and valuing the journeys of artists connected to the territory.
