The initiative aims to support children during this important stage of their school journey, promoting emotional well-being, adaptation to the new educational context, and the development of essential learning skills.
The first session, titled “The Backpack That Came With Me”, started with the story of Inês, a girl beginning 1st grade who faces fears and worries. After reading, students shared their emotions and reflected on their own experiences entering 1st grade, recognizing and expressing feelings associated with change and discovering a new school reality.
As a final activity, each child was challenged to draw three significant elements on their backpack: a fear, a longing for their previous school, and something that makes them happy at the new school. This exercise valued individual experiences, allowing for emotional expression and the building of feelings of security and belonging.
Through this project, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima reinforces its commitment to education, promoting a psychopedagogical approach close to children and their needs, contributing to positive school integration and educational success.
