The winning project, “Vianadas: Viana das Lendas Inventadas”, with a budget of 7,000 euros, will create four original legends inspired by corners of Viana do Castelo, through the intersection of literature and theater. The stories will be written by three Viana-based authors of different generations and a secondary school student, aiming to reinvent the city's narrative and foster new relationships between inhabitants and the urban space. The project includes site-specific performances presented in the locations that inspired the texts, with a focus on inclusion and programming planned for the summer of 2027.
In second place, with a budget of 14,000 euros, was the project "Erva Daninha", an illustration initiative that aims to transform the Municipal Garden into a "lawn of living stories." The project pays tribute to the employees of the Municipal Garden, using real flowers and plants to create between 8 and 12 illustrations in the flowerbeds, accompanied by contextualizing captions. It includes the participation of guest illustrators, artistic workshops, and a guided tour, seeking to raise community awareness about the work of gardeners and promote the Municipal Garden.
Third place, with a budget of 13,200 euros, was awarded to the project "Formigueiro", an itinerant cultural initiative focused on artistic decentralization and strengthening community networks in the municipality. It centers on contemporary music, crossing local emerging artists with renowned national figures, also integrating theater and cultural mediation. The project will tour various locations, such as Montaria, Lanheses, Afife, and Vila Franca, through concerts, workshops, and artistic residencies, culminating in a closing event at the Sá de Miranda Municipal Theater.
Fourth place, with a budget of 14,968 euros, was given to “Escaparate”, a contemporary art initiative that uses the shop windows of Galeria Barca d'Artes as permanent exhibition devices. Over a year, seven exhibitions by emerging artists in painting, photography, sculpture, and sound art will be held, inspired by the local memory archive "Cadernos Vianenses." The project includes an educational component for art students and aims to reactivate urban spaces and support young artistic production.
Viana Jovens com Talento is an initiative by the Viana do Castelo Municipal Council that reaffirms the municipal commitment to valuing youth, promoting opportunities for young people to develop their ideas into concrete projects that contribute to the social, cultural, and economic enrichment of the municipality.
