The Caminha Municipality, in partnership with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), yesterday carried out a controlled burn operation in the parish of Argela, managing approximately 14 hectares of forest.

The intervention, part of the approved Controlled Burn Plan, contributes to creating a mosaic of fuel discontinuity associated with the Primary Forest Defense Network Against Fires. The goal is to enable more effective territory management and rural fire prevention.
The operation was supported by the Volunteer Firefighters of Caminha and Vila Praia de Âncora, along with six teams of Forestry Sappers who participated in a practical training component.
Controlled burning is highlighted as an essential tool for forest management, reducing vegetation fuel load, increasing public safety, and enhancing ecosystem protection.
This commitment to preventive actions underscores the importance the Caminha Municipality places on forest preservation, territory valorization, and fire risk mitigation.
