The traditional local produce fair “Cores e Sabores de Outono” (Autumn Colors and Flavors) was held on Wednesday, October 14th, at the Tomaz de Figueiredo Secondary School in Arcos de Valdevez. The initiative involved students from the 5th and 6th grades of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Valdevez and has been held for decades.
The Councillor for Education, Marlene Barros, attended the event, which aimed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of young people, promote local agricultural products, and provide students with practical buying and selling experience. The fair was open to the community.
Students presented a variety of products, including jams, preserves, marmalade, homemade cakes, pumpkins, chayotes, peppers, potatoes, eggs, chestnuts, and walnuts, brought from home to sell.
In addition to showcasing the richness of regional products, the initiative served as a moment of community gathering for the school. Students, dressed in regional costumes, contributed to a festive atmosphere, full of color and tradition, evoking old customs.
