The Sesimbra Municipal Chamber has once again been honored with the Exemplary Quality Seal for Drinking Water, awarded by ERSAR, recognizing its excellent performance in 2025.

The distinction, one of the highest national recognitions in the sector, was presented on October 14, at the Vila Flor Cultural Center in Guimarães, during SENAG 2026 – National Wastewater Seminar. The water distributed in Sesimbra showed excellent compliance levels in 2025, joining the select group of Portuguese municipalities that consistently ensure exemplary quality.
The Exemplary Quality Seal for Drinking Water, awarded by ERSAR since 2009, distinguishes entities that meet rigorous criteria, such as excellence in defined quality parameters, continuous monitoring, absence of significant failures, and capacity for infrastructure response and maintenance.
In 2025, only 56 entities nationwide achieved this recognition. ERSAR emphasizes that tap water quality in mainland Portugal has maintained high levels in recent years.
This award acknowledges the daily work of the professionals who ensure the water supply in the municipality, often under demanding conditions and serving an extensive and diverse territory. It also serves as an incentive to continue investing in the modernization of the public water system, enhancing public health, quality of life, and environmental sustainability.
